What is the Group Talk Facebook Application?
The Group Talk Facebook Application, from Rebtel, allows you to make FREE international calls with your friends. Group Talk lets you speak with up o 20 people at the same time.
I’m really impressed with the system they have setup to allow the conference calls. The way it works is you provide your cell phone number to the Group Talk Facebook app. After that, you can schedule a conference call with your Facebook friends. Group Talk will send each of your friends a number to call at the scheduled time so you can all talk to each other.
The best part of Group Talk is that the only price you pay is cost for a local call. You can’t beat that!
Group Talk is perfect for Facebook users who are traveling abroad. It’s a cheap easy way to reconnect with friends and family back home.
Group Talk Pros
- Make free long distance conference calls
- Super easy to use. Even a caveman could do it.
- Talk with up to 20 people at the same time
- The app makes scheduling calls a breeze
Group Talk Cons
- Couldn’t find any. Very well done.

My House Plans is a simple Facebook application that allows you to save and share house plans that you like. While at first flush, such an app sounds boring, but it’s actually very fun to use. You get lost looking at all the different plans trying to find what your dream house will look like. A nice feature in My House Plans is that you can see which plans are the most popular which makes finding the best house plans easier to find.
If you’re wondering where you find house plans to save, the app lets you browse different floor plans without leaving Facebook and tagging the ones you like.

Probook Facebook Application
What is the Probook Facebook App?
Probook is a simple, but effective professional directory. When I first started playing around with it, it reminded me a lot of LinkedIn. What I like about Probook is that its a professional directory that’s parred down to the bare essentials. After installing the app, you are asked to select which profession you are in and give a brief description of yourself. Friends and contacts you have made can give you a rating that potential employers could use as a basis for recommendations. They can also leave short feedback messages about you.
Probook Facebook App Pros
- Simple. Some apps are getting way to complicated. It’s nice to see one that values simplicity.
- Leverages social network by allowing you to rank your friends.
- Connect with others in your profession.
Probook Facebook App Cons
- There are few bugs. One that I noticed when I used it was when I was typing in the “About” box, instead of staying in the box, the text continued out of it.
- It would be nice if there were different categories for the rankings that deal with work like “creativity” or “work ethic” or “leadership.” That way employers will have a better view of your strength and weaknesses in these areas.
- Other than that, I couldn’t see any other improvements that could be made this app. Great job!

Criticker Facebook Application
What is the Criticker Facebook App?
Criticker is a movie review app from the film recommendation community site, Criticker.com. Criticker lets you show in your profile page what films you’ve been watching lately and get recommendations from your friends on new movies to watch. There are tons of movies to choose from. I liked how they not only have older movies, but also recent releases. You have to rank the movies on the Criticker website, so you’ll have to leave Facebook. Also, in order to have your reviews show up on your profile, you have to manually refresh your profile.
Criticker Pros
- Leverages Facebook’s social network by allowing you to get movie recommendations from your friends.
- Huge selection of movies to choose from. Seriously. A ton.
- Access to a huge online movie review forum.
Criticker Cons
- You have to leave Facebook to actually rank the movies. It’s not that big of a deal, but a more integrated app would be much more user friendly.
- You also have to manually refresh your profile every time you make a review. However, this isn’t the developer’s fault. Facebook won’t let them do it any other way.

Funny4MySpace Facebook Applications
Funn4MySpace isn’t a single Facebook application. Rather, it’s a site with several different My Space and Facebook applications. Each widget works in both Facebook and MySpace. What kind of apps does Funny4MySpace have? Let’s find out.
The name of the site should give you a good indication of what kind of apps to expect. They’re all funny or fun. There’s Homer Simpson Quote App, a Worst Pick Up Line App, and a Joke of the Day App, just to name a few. In all, Funny4MySpace offers 18 different apps.
All the apps are nicely designed with bright colors, so they’ll stand out on your Facebook page.
While these apps are fun, the draw back is they don’t take advantage of Facebook’s social network. There’s no collaborating going on with them which is one of the biggest advantages of having an app on Facebook.
If you’re looking for a fun app to decorate your Facebook page, then definitely check out Funny4MySpace.

dotName Facebook Application
What is the dotName Facebook Application?
The dotName app helps you create your own domain name and email address from your name. Sign up is pretty easy. All you do is select how you want your domain name to look, dotName creates it for you. Mine right now is http://brett.mckay.name. The default is that your domain name will take people to your Facebook profile. You can change it, though, if you want. The domain name is free for the first 90 days, after that you either can let it expire or purchase it on one of the plans.
dotName Pros
- Super easy to use
- Create you own custom domain so your friends can get directly to your
Facebook profile.
dotName Cons
- No leveraging of Facebook’s social network. All it does is create your domain name.
- It’s only free for 90 days. I couldn’t find how much their charging to register your domain, but I think alot of people might be turned off because of this.
