What is the Serious Internet application?

Sometimes people can take life too seriously, luckily there are facebook application developers out there that realize this and can provide lol worthy quick fix. That’s exactly what the Serious Internet application does.

The application adds a box to your profile where a daily humorous picture can be seen. Pictures are easily changeable with single click. All images come from the data base located at the Serious Internet website.

Pros

• lolcats, orly owls, random pictures that bring out guffaws
• links are provided with pictures for easy sharing
• simple fun application

Cons

• Would be a nice to have a way to select the picture you want instead of the selection just being random

mixpixx

What is the mixpixx application?

There’s that old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words.  What if you took a bunch of pictures and made it one big picture?  Would that picture be worth a million words?  Well such a rhetorical question may finally be answered with mixpixx.

Once mixpixx is installed you can create collages that are made from the pictures in your friends’ facebook profiles.  The collage has a stained glass look to it, the pictures are connected with jagged edges.  Customization of the picture includes adding a border of varying thickness and color.  If you don’t like how it’s arranged, you can reshuffle the image.

The resulting image can be saved in your mixpixx album, which is automatically created for you in your photo album section of your facebook profile.  Images can be printed off, saved, or posted on your website.

Here’s the one that I made

It’s a pretty simple process and a fun application.  I would like to see the ability to use other pictures from you facebook albums or to be able to have certain pictures repeated.  At this point you have to select at least three people.  It seems you may have more variety in creating collages at their website.

Cons

• Can only use profile pictures
• Picture arragment is completely random

What is the Caption.iT application?

Tired of the regular facebook album pictures? Well now you can spice them up using the Caption.iT application. With this application, you can customize various pictures by adding your own personal little messages. With some pictures (easily recognizable by the small picture icon in the top right of the picture), you can even customize them by adding your own pictures.

Here’s a few that I made:

Once installed, the application allows your friends to post new captioned photos to your profile, by using the link provided in your profile. This is another one of the fun little applications that makes it easy for you to customize your facebook page.

Pros

• Easy to use
• Can use you own pictures, allowing even more customization of your message

Cons

• The selection of images is limited. Approximately 96 different pictures spread across 3 pages.

BookMyMug Photobook Facebook Application

What is the BookMyMug Facebook app?

BookMyMug is a simple, yet ingenious Facebook application. What BookMyMug does is gather all the photos shared between you and a friend and makes a virtual photo album out of it. For example, say you want to create a little Facebook photo album of you and your friend Jill. BookMyMug makes this easy for you. First, it makes suggestions of albums you can create out of photos that you and Jill are tagged together in. You can also just type in a name of a friend you want to create an album.BookMyMug will create the book in a matter of minutes.

After you create your photo book, you can send it Jill and share the memories you’ve made with each other. If virtual photobooks aren’t your thing, BookMyMug lets you create a nice hardbound print version. A 20 page photobook will set you back about $30, but it’s a thoughtful gift your friend will cherish for years to come.

• I really liked the attention to design in this app. Most apps look really crappy, but this one is very nice on the eyes.

My Travel Photo Map is an application created by myTripBook.com, an online travel community. My Travel Photo Map allows to share photos you of your trips with your friends quickly and easily. What’s cool about My Travel Photo Map is that you can show your friends exactly where you took the photo through My Travel Photo Map’s unique geo tagging feature. Geo tagging lets you create a pin point a on a map of the places you’ve visited. When your friends hover over the pinpoint, the pics you took in that area pop up.

What is the MySpace Top Friends Facebook App?

MySpace Top Friends allows you to display your top MySpace friends on your Facebook profile. Installation is pretty easy. You’ll need your MySpace friend ID  as well as your MySpace set to “public” for this app to work. You also have a little say in how the app appears on your profile page. This facebook app also includes full link functionality so friends can message you on MySpace from Facebook.

What is the Photo Voting Facebook Application?

Photo Voting takes photos from your albums and creates instant polls for them. Your friends can then vote on their favorite pic of you.

• You can leave feedback in the form of comments

• Some of the pics crop funny and cut off parts of your pics

What is the Radar Facebook Application?

Radar allows you to instantly update pictures on your Facebook profile from your cellphone. Just snap a picture with any camara phone and radar will post to your Facebook profile if you have the app installed.

Radar Pros

• You can share what you’re doing with your friends at any time with pics
• Friends can make comments about your uploaded pics and you can see those comments on your cell phone

Radar Cons

• You have to have a Radar account to use this app. You’ll have to sign up on an offsite page. Kind of annoying.
• Photo updates only display in friends newsfeed only if they have the app installed.

TouchGraph Photos Facebook Application

What is the TouchGraph Photos Facebook application?

The TouchGraph app allows you to visualize how you and your Facebook Friends are connected. It’s Java based so you can zoom in to see connections on a micro level or zoom out to see them a big picture. You can also move around invidviduals or clusters of networks so you can get a better of view of who people are connected.

One of the coolest features is you can click so it only shows the people who you have had pictures taken with on Facebook.

To be honest, I had some trouble getting the hang of how to use this app. It was kind of confusing. After a few minutes, though, I was having some fun.

TouchGraph Photos Pros

• Visualize your connections on Facebook
• Very cool looking
• Easily see which friends are in your other friends’ photos

TouchGraph Photos Cons

• The interface is confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it it’s pretty fun.
• It’s pretty slow loading
• Because it runs as a separate Java application, it uses more of your computer’s resources. I noticed my computer slowing down a bit while using it.

FlipFrames Facebook Application

What is the FlipFrames Facebook application?

FlipFrames allows you to display your Facebook Photos in a unique frame. You have the option of uploading your own or choosing photos in your Facebook album. The photos are displayed slide show style on your profile.

You have 54 different frames to choose from. They all have that bubbly web 2.0 feel to them. You can add comic book style word bubbles to your pics and add funny dialog to your photos.

Uploading photos is easy. There’s not a lot of rigmarole and took only a second. My only complaint is you can’t pick Facebook photos that you’re tagged in but are in other people’s albums.

• Create fun word bubbles for your photos

FlipFrames Cons

• It takes up a lot of space
• You can only add Facebook photos that are in albums created by you.
• There was glitch after I deleted a frame. When I tried to go back to create a new frame, the app wouldn’t let me. I had to reload the whole page. Kind of annoying
