What is the Favorite Peeps Facebook App?
Favorite Peeps allows you to give nicknames to your Facebook friends. Your friends can also give your nicknames that will be displayed in your profile. There’s also a popularity score that’s computed by the number of friends you invite to use the app, and the number of nicknames you are given. Favorite Peeps was developed by Dennis Rakhamimov.
Favorite Peeps Pros
- Face it. Giving your friends nicknames is fun.
- You can let everyone know if your friend is a best friend or sort of best friend. If you’re into labeling your friends.
Favorite Peeps Cons
- The app was kind of screwy. The input box was covering the popularity box. It made it look sort of crappy.
- No social leveraging. How but seeing what the most popular nicknames are?

Text Me Facebook Application
What is the Text Me Facebook Application?
Text Me creates a box on your profile page that allows your friends to enter text messages to send to your cell phone. Installation is a breeze. All you have to do is provide your cell phone number and which wireless provider you use, and you’re set. I’d make sure you’re not charged for receiving texts before you start using this app. You could easily ring up a hefty phone bill with it. Text Me was developed by Sandy McFadden
Text Me Pros
- Make texting easier for your friends. I hate having to use the keys on my cell phone to do it.
- Easy installation
- Didn’t notice any bugs. Worked well for me.
Text Me Cons
- Some international Facebook users are having trouble using the app. Either their cell phone carrier isn’t supported yet, or you have to do some weird configuration.

Dvolver MovieMaker Facebook Application
What is the Dvolver MovieMaker?
The Dvolver MovieMaker app was developed by Ben Rigby. It’s a nifty little app that allows you to create fun animated movies. Creating movies is a breeze. You pick from a selection of backgrounds, pick your characters, pick what type of interaction your characters have, decide what your characters will say, and add some music.
My first movie was entitled “You Suck.” It’s a story about a woman and Uncle Sam meeting in the park to tell each other they suck.
One of the nice features about the MovieMaker app is the ability to decide who gets to see your films. You have the option of just sending them to your friends or you can display a badge in your profile that lets people click on a link to watch your film.
MovieMaker Pros
- Very easy to use.
- I didn’t have any problems with bugs.
- Huge selection of animation to make your movie.
- You have control over who sees your films
MovieMaker Cons
- No voting capability. It would be really cool to vote to see who has the best Facebook movie.
- Too pre-set. You really don’t have much control of the characters’ actions or where they stand in the scenery. It would be nice to have more control over this.
Overall MovieMaker is a real fun app. Ben has put together a quality app that is easy to use and isn’t plagued with glitches. Ben is taking suggestions and working to incorporate them in new releases, so we can look forward MovieMaker becoming even better.

Graffiti Facebook Application
What is the Graffiti Facebook Application?
There’s actually two different versions of a Graffiti app. This one was created by Ted Suzman at WashU. Graffiti allows your friends to draw pictures on your profile page. There’s a small box on your profile. When someone wants to draw a picture, they click on “draw” It then takes them to another page so they can have it with your board. In order for your friends to draw, they have to have the app installed as well. Graffiti requires Flash 9 for it to work.
Graffiti Pros
- Easily draw pics for your friends
- Pretty robust drawing application
Graffiti Cons
- People have reported disappearing app boxes on their profiles
- There’s also a bug that has been solved, but it requires you to tinker McAfee security service. Kind of a pain.
- In order for friends to use it, they have to have Flash 9 installed. They have to download it, which is kind of annoying.
Graffiti is a fun little app. I don’t see it as something particularly useful. It’s a nice way to personalize your profile, though.

Super Wall! Facebook Application
What is the Super Wall! Facebook Application?
Super Wall! was developed by CollegeWikis. The idea is to allow a quick and easy way to share information and events about your school. In order for it to work, your school must have a wiki on CollegeWiki. The app sits in your profile with a scrolling list of links you can click to give you more information.
Super Wall! Pros
- Adding info to the wiki from Facebook is pretty easy. You can do it straight from your profile.
- The developers are doing a great job taking suggestions and incorporating them.
Super Wall! Cons
- Not all the schools are listed. However, you can ask a developer to add it for you.
- How’s this different from Facebook’s network page? I couldn’t figure out exactly how this is different from my school’s network page on Facebook. Not only can I find a calendar of events going on at my school, but people can start discussions, post items, and sell stuff on the market place. I’d love to hear from the developers their perspective on this and how they differinitate it from the Facebook Network Page.

30 Boxes Facebook Application
Want to let your friends know your schedule? Check out the 30 Boxes Facebook Application.
What is the 30 Boxes Facebook Application?
30 Boxes is a popular social calendar that allows you to share your schedule with your friends.
30 Boxes Pro
- Quickly add your friend’s birthdays to your calendar
- Share with your friends your availability
30 Boxes Cons
- I couldn’t get the damn thing to work. I kept getting error messages.
- Kind of creepy. Do you really want anyone to know what you’re doing and where you’re going to be at any given moment?
I’ve used 30 Boxes before on their own site, so I was looking forward to trying out the Facebook app. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the thing to work. It appears I’m not the only one having this problem and the developers are working to fix it.
