TalkShoe-Community Calling
What is the TalkShoe-Community Calling Application?
Tired of gchatting? Still using AIM to stay in contact with your friends? Well maybe you should join the bandwagon that is internet calling. How can you do that, you ask? It’s easy, add the TalkShoe application and then join in on the fun.
After installing the application you will be asked input your phone number or you can go onto TalkShoe’s website and create an account. After that, it’s smooth sailing. Call up other facebook friends or talkshoe users. Listen to the auditory equivalent of blog, which I find pretty cool.
The application is reminiscent of those old talk lines, which I got in trouble for using once when I was in grade school. There’s something simply amusing, yet a bit voyeuristic in listening in on random community phone calls…especially when it’s just two people talking.
TalkShoe is supposedly compatible with regular telephones, cells phones, Skype and VoIP. I fiddled around with my cell phone and was going to test drive VoIP but couldn’t find my headset. I had no problems, except that it’s important to remember that when using services that charge (like cellphones) that TalkShoe isn’t free. I had a blast and it was nice way to talk to some friends that I haven’t seen in awhile.
Pros
- create your own community so you and all your friends can chat
- save your phone calls
- run live blog shows (or listen to them)
Cons
- there was a little big of lag when listening through an internet browser and bit of static, but this is probably VoIPs fault and the speakers talking to close to the microphone

Kiwee postCards Facebook Application
What is the Kiwee postCards Facebook Application?
Kiwee postCards Facebook app lets you create and customize postCards to send to your Facebook friends. Creating a post card is a snap with the Kiwee postCards app. You have hundreds of fun and creative cards to choose from. The postcards are organized by categories such as Naughty, Funny, and Flirt. What’s great is that some of the postCards are animations or videos. Pretty cool. After you select the postCard you want to use, you can then customize the text and send it off to your friend.
Kiwee postCards Pros
- Hundreds of postCards to choose from
- Includes animated and video postCards
- Nicely integrated into Facebook
- Extremely simple to use
Kiwee postCards Cons
- Couldn’t find any! This is a simple, yet fun app. Great work!
- Great way to send holiday greetings
- Variety of holidays to choose from
- Messages designed for other life occasions
- On the main page, the app doesn’t fit into the frame so you can’t use one half of the app.
- No messages ready for the “Occasions” and “Life” categories.
- If the designers can fix these two mistakes, this will be an awesome app.
- Send prank calls right from Facebook
- Several text-to-voice voices to choose from
- Easy to use
- Earn gift certificates just for using the app. Amazing!
- I couldn’t find any with this app. Well done!
- Easily collaborate with your friends on a wiki in Facebook.
- Â Very easy to use.
- Add widgets to your wiki in a snap!
- Ready to go templates to help get you started on your collaboration.
- I couldn’t find anything wrong with this app! It’s awesome!
- Super easy to use
- Create you own custom domain so your friends can get directly to your
Facebook profile. - No leveraging of Facebook’s social network. All it does is create your domain name.
- It’s only free for 90 days. I couldn’t find how much their charging to register your domain, but I think alot of people might be turned off because of this.
- Create polls instantly
- Add multimedia to your polls
- See what your Facebook friends are polling about
- Takes advantage of Facebook’s social network to the max
- Integrated nicely into Facebook
- I honestly couldn’t come up with any improvements for this app. It has the entire package. Kudos to the developers!
- Customize your Group display
- Show icons next to each group
- New features look pretty cool
- I was having some troubles getting it to work. The app said I hadn’t joined any groups, so I couldn’t drag and drop anything. I figured it out after a while though.
- Constantly changes- plants die and must be replaced
- Pretty!
- Most flowers only last a day or two
- Takes a while to fill your garden
- Easily keep your friends on Facebook and Twitter up to date with what you’re doing.
- Do we really need this? We already have the Status feature on Facebook that does the same thing as Twitter.
- It would be cool if Twitter and Facebook status were interchangeable, ie if you update your Facebook status, it updates your Twitter account as well. I’m not sure if that will be a possibility given how Facebook has kept some control of what is and is not allowed with the apps.

Wiki Whiteboard is a really cool Facebook app. Really cool. You can create an wiki within Facebook that you and your friends can use to collaberate on projects or just collaborate on creating fun content. Editing is super easy with its WYSIWYG get editor. Another awesome feature on Whiteboard are the widgets you can add to your wiki. There are a ton of them like a YouTube video widget which allows you to put videos on your Whiteboard Wiki. I also liked how Whiteboard has set up several ready to go templates for you to use based on your needs, like a party planner or note taking template. Overall this is a great app!

The dotName app helps you create your own domain name and email address from your name. Sign up is pretty easy. All you do is select how you want your domain name to look, dotName creates it for you. Mine right now is http://brett.mckay.name. The default is that your domain name will take people to your Facebook profile. You can change it, though, if you want. The domain name is free for the first 90 days, after that you either can let it expire or purchase it on one of the plans.

Polls Facebook Application
What is the Polls Facebook Application?
Polls is probably the best polling Facebook app I’ve seen. What makes Pollection’s Polls Facebook application stand out from the rest is it’s unique multimedia feature. You can add sounds, video, and images to your Facebook polls. For example, say you wanted to create a poll on which Green Day song is the best, Polls allows you to upload sound clips of Green Day songs, so those taking the poll can listen before voting. I can see this feature coming in handy for bands wanting to find out which of their songs fans like most.
On the app’s main page, you can see the hottest and most recent polls created on Facebook. As of this writing, there are polls on “Who would win in a fight” and “How fast is your broadband connection” (obviously created by a tech geek).
Polls looks to be one of the main contenders Facebook application polls.

Top Groups Facebook Application
What is the Top Groups Facebook Application?
Top Groups is pretty nifty. Instead of displaying a run of the mill Facebook Group list, you can rearrange your groups to show which one’s are your favorites. It also displays the icon from the Group, so it’s much more visually appealing. The developers are working on adding a most popular group feature so you can see which Facebook Group everyone is joining.
