What is the dotName Facebook Application?

The dotName app helps you create your own domain name and email address from your name. Sign up is pretty easy. All you do is select how you want your domain name to look, dotName creates it for you. Mine right now is http://brett.mckay.name. The default is that your domain name will take people to your Facebook profile. You can change it, though, if you want. The domain name is free for the first 90 days, after that you either can let it expire or  purchase it on one of the plans.

dotName Pros

• Super easy to use
• Create you own custom domain so your friends can get directly to your
  Facebook profile.

dotName Cons

• No leveraging of Facebook’s social network. All it does is create your domain name.
• It’s only free for 90 days. I couldn’t find how much their charging to register your domain, but I think alot of people might be turned off because of this.
